My Inspiration for What's Wrong? I Don't Know.
My book's inspiration came from over 30 years of friends, strangers, and doctors urging me to share what it is like to live with mental illness. They believed that I would help many understand because I can explain it in simple, direct words. I've shared with many and have learned even more when listening to their stories. We must help those in need make it through one more day and let them know that they're not alone even when they feel alone.
I've promised many over the last 30 years that I'd write my story when the time was right. The time became right in September 2019, and I will finish what I've started.
I hope you will volunteer, call someone you know that suffers, visit them, and they will know they are not forgotten. Get involved and help however you can. Little things are huge when helping someone with any illness.
My Hope
It's worth all my efforts writing my story if one person gains peace. For those blessed without this illness, I hope you gain an understanding of what it is like to live with this debilitating monster. I use my story as the vessel to share. My story is fiction based on true events because names, dates, and locations are not the story. All names are not the real names of the people in my story, not even mine, and that is why I use my pen name with the exception of my cat. The story is about what it is like to live with mental illness through glimpses of reality. In the end, I did find my calm mind, peace, and hope. It was worth the fight.
~~~Quote~~~
"I struggle daily to survive mental illness, and no one should have to dance with this monster from hell. I live in a nightmare while awake, and I want out. I will not stop searching until I find my miracle, a calm mind."
(Yes, this is my pen name for those who think they might be on the wrong site.)
